Since 2001 Unlocking Autism has held events in Washington DC called The Power of One. We believe the keys to Unlocking Autism are found in our unity, faith, power, health, action and kindness. Our last DC event took place on April 1st & 2nd in 2016. A group of approximately 120 people came from 19 different states to read God's Word, pray for our community, then praise and worship God then march from the United States Capitol, down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Eclipse in front of the White House. At the end of the march, we sang Psalm 40.
In October 2017, Shelley Hendrix returned to Washington, DC with Mika Bradford to advocate on Capitol Hill for a few days and attend the Awaken the Dawn event. At the Sunday Service held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, we met Pastor Arthur Hunt from Arkansas. His gathering, like gatherings in DC prior to that were called "The Power of One-ness." We connected with him again almost exactly one year later and have partnered with each other ever since.
On January 21, 2019, our Unlocking Autism Prayer Warrior team helped launch The Cleanse, the reading of God's entire Word over America with intercessory prayer in each state between sunrise on the East Coast and sunset in Hawaii. We have participated in this project faithfully for the last two years. Pastor Hunt has supported our efforts and provided valuable pastoral counsel along the way as well.
On April 3rd & 4th, Pastor Hunt will hold another event in DC and Unlocking Autism is partnering with him this time for: The Power of One JUST GOD.
